Teppsco Kingfisher

I spotted this Kingfisher in the Baytown Nature Center this weekend. I would of preferred it resting on a old tree in the water or somewhere else that hid the "hand of man", but he just wouldn't cooperate!

Nice composition Larry!

I like the juxtaposition of manmade and natural elements; to me it adds interest.

Well done!

I prefer the natural if you can get it. As I have indicated a few times before, you do what you have to in order to get the shot.

I actually saw this same bird yesterday. He does not like having his picture taken and flies off at the first sign of movement.

This bird must weight several tons. It is bending the sign.

I have seen a kingfisher twice in my neighborhood pond area, here in Friendswood. They are really interesting to watch when they hover above the water, almost like a huge hummingbird. Even if I had had a camera with me, I don't think I could have captured it, it was really fast and only landed for seconds, so you did well to get this at all. The out of focus background really makes the bird and the sign stand out.
